Who Needs Stock When you Have Stuff?
In these hard economic times, are you wondering if your grandmother's oriental vase or your grandfather's reading lamp might be worth a bit – or a lot – of money? Bring it with you to the Saturday Seminar, “Who Needs Stock When You Have Stuff?” at the Fall Antiques Show.
The seminar will start at 2 p.m. Admission is free to those already attending the Antiques Show. There will be an additional $5 charge for those wishing to have items appraised.
Timothy Smith of Timothy Smith and Sons will be providing “general interest” verbal appraisals of the items brought in and will provide additional historical background for the audience. Attendees are encouraged to bring in up to three objects, including reasonably sized pieces of furniture, household objects, artwork, etc., for Mr. Smith's consideration. Please label your items with your name, and please do not bring in any jewelry, stamps, or coins.
Timothy Smith and Sons is a fourth-generation, full-service, antiques and fine art conservation, appraisal, and sales company. Mr. Smith's grandfather was involved in the construction of the National Art Gallery and the Jefferson Memorial. His father worked on the restoration of the original Senate Chambers and the conversion of the Naval Observatory into the Vice President's residence.
Mr. Smith is a court-certified appraiser who has been called as an expert witness many times on matters relating to antiques and their appraised values and conservation.
